I often make banana bread when I have overripe bananas lying around. This chocolate chip version is my family’s favorite. Moist, slightly sweet, and studded with melty chocolate, it’s the kind of treat you want with coffee or tea.
Ingredients
- 3 overripe bananas
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Method
Mash bananas in a bowl, mix in melted butter. Add sugar, vanilla, baking soda, and salt, then fold in flour. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50–60 minutes. Cool before slicing.
Tips & Variations
- Add walnuts for crunch.
- Substitute chocolate chips with dried cranberries for a fruity version.
- Use whole wheat flour for a healthier twist.
